Yasmin Ahmad, Who Will Continue Your Legacy?

Yasmin,
You deserve a title,
The government was unfair to you,
The censorship deprived Malaysians of your work,
The people didn't get enough of you,
While other parts of the world gave you awards,
Your home neglected you, because you saw 'it' as it is...

You left way too soon.
Way too young,
You fought the battle only half way,
You had more to fight for,
We still need to see what you saw,
The people still needs your messages,
The people still want your story,

Who will continue your work?
Who else has your courage?
Who can tell a story like you did?

Oh Yasmin, I wished it weren't true,
I wished it was another rumor,
Wished you could be resurrected,
Wished it was a sick joke.

Please tell me you had an apprentice,
Please tell me you trained someone to be like you,
To continue your work,
To see the angles like you saw them,
To film like you did,
To be as courageous as you were,
To fight like you did,

Please tell me there are others like you,
That your battles, your stories, your messages, your work,
Did not die with you...
Yasmin Ahmad, who will continue your work?
